Journalist.

Activist.

Oregonian.

I’m Hank.

I’m running for State Representative.

I’m running to lower costs in the Gorge.

I grew up in rural Oregon. I left home for college and my career in journalism, eventually reporting for The New York Times.

Journalists are professional listeners. After moving home, I heard my neighbors sounding the alarm about the future of the Gorge. Whether it was wildfires, an impending healthcare crisis, or the struggles of running a business, all of these concerns boiled down to:

The Gorge is too expensive.

I’m running for House District 52 to protect East Multnomah and Clackamas Counties, Hood River, and The Dalles for today and future generations.

My plans to lower costs in House District 52

1. Reduce Wildfire Costs

By creating Oregon’s first Home Hardening Strike Team, I will lower wildfire risk and insurance.

2. Tax Credits

I will pass $5,000 tax credits for rural Oregonians working in childcare, education, or own micro businesses.

3. Save Medicaid

I will create the Agency of Medicaid Paperwork Support (AMPS) to reduce cuts to Medicaid.

My 3 advocacy missions

As a reporter, I drew attention to the Trump Administration’s abuses, uncovered corruption, and fought governments. I will continue to fight for the people as your state representative.

1. Protect Our People

I will fight ICE’s illegal detentions of our people.

2. No sale of public lands

I will never support the sale or pollution of our lands and waters.

3. No tax hikes

I will not support tax hikes on low income, rural Oregonians.
